Toyota brought a little more than its brand new 2018 Camry production model to the North American International Auto Show.
The Japanese Automaker, along with drivers Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch, revealed the brand new NASCAR Spec Camry that will debut this season. The 2018 Camry features a much more aggressive, sharper, and more angular design compared to its last year counterpart.
“The 2018 Toyota Camry NASCAR race car has been years in the making, and to unveil it simultaneously with our new production Camry is a milestone moment for our organization,” said Ed Laukes, who serves as Vice President of Integrated Marketing Operations for Toyota.
Laukes commented on the car’s design, and talked about the importance of the on-track product, reflecting what is in their showrooms.
“The collaboration between Calty Design Group and TRD has produced a NASCAR Camry that showcases aggressive styling that is sure to turn heads on the race track and among our fans in Toyota showrooms across the country. Reimagining both the Camry race car and its production counterpart has been a tremendous undertaking and our goal has been to maintain parallel design characteristics so our fans can enjoy driving a Camry that closely resembles the one their favorite NASCAR driver races each weekend.”
The previous time that Toyota modified the look of their on-track Camry, the automaker took home the 2015 Championship, visited victory lane 30 times, and has had 10 Chase appearances with six of its drivers.
The brand-new 2018 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Camry will see its first on-track debut at The Clash on February 18th, in Daytona.
