Michael Waltrip will attempt to add a 3rd Harley J. Earl Trophy to his collection in February.

After a fan posed the question on social media, the 2-time Daytona 500 winner confirmed via Twitter on Friday that he will participate in the 2017 Daytona 500, with sponsorship from long-time personal partner Aaron’s. Waltrip is looking to extend his streak of laps led in every NASCAR season since 1987.

It has not been confirmed what team or organization Waltrip will be driving for. Current speculation has BK Racing has the top contender due to the team acquiring many Toyota Camry’s from MWR when they ceased operation in 2015. However BK Racing is currently in the process of realignment and has yet to announce their 2017 plans.

Aaron’s has been with Michael Waltrip since 2002, serving as the anchor sponsor of his NASCAR XFINITY Series operation with driver Kenny Wallace. Aaron’s stepped in to sponsor Michael Waltrip and his now defunct operation Michael Waltrip Racing, beginning in 2006, before going full-time with driver David Reutimann in 2007. Aaron’s would continue sponsoring MWR’s operation in both XFINITY and Premier Series levels.
